Rest in the Nail-Scarred Hands

“Yes, we’re looking for a speaker,” Tami said. “Do you have any suggestions?”

“What? You’re looking for a speaker?” I almost shouted into the receiver. “How can you be looking for a speaker, your retreat is THREE WEEKS AWAY. You already have your speaker!”

“Well, I just got a call and, well, she can’t make it,” Tami replied.

Would you like me to describe what (un)righteous anger sounds like? In my opinion, a speaker wasn’t allowed to cancel, especially for the given reason. For several moments I ranted on about how ridiculous it was that this speaker canceled, leaving us high and dry with the event just three weeks away.

I barked on and on. Tami listened patiently. Finally there was a long enough break in the one-sided conversation for Tami to get a word in. “You know, I am disappointed that this speaker can’t make it. And yes, it does put me in a bind to have to be looking for another speaker, especially since everyone is expecting our original choice.” Then she said something that shocked me to the core: “But I can’t help but believe that this is of God. He knew it would be this way from the beginning so I am really excited to find out who He has in mind. By the way, do you know any good speakers I could call?”

Stunned, I took a deep breath. Almost instantaneously I remembered just Who it is I worship. He means business. First of all, He spent 33 years here on earth showing me what love is. During that time He allowed Himself to be subjected to temptation—resisting the urge to participate in sin so that I could have a chance to be completely free. Finally, His body writhed in agony as He shouted “It is finished,” sealing my glorious future. Forever, His hands are scarred—for you, for me.

      If you are just getting started with multimedia at your church, your first question is probably about equipment. This list will provide you with the basic components and information regarding making equipment choices for your multimedia department.

      Here is a list of the basic equipment you will need to run a multimedia presentation:
